Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Openmatter("Openmatter," "we," "us," or "our"), the company behind Skyspace(the "Service"), collects, uses, and shares information when you visit https://skyspace.openmatter.co, join our waitlist, reserve a handle, or otherwise interact with Skyspace. By using the Service you agree to the practices described below.
1. Who we are
Skyspace is a product of Openmatter. Openmatter is the data controller for personal information collected through this site. You can reach us at the contact details in Section 13.
2. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to operate the waitlist, reserve your handle, and prepare the Service for launch.
Information you provide
- Your email address.
- Your full name.
- Your country (selected by you or suggested from your region).
- The Skyspacehandle you wish to reserve (e.g. "yourname").
- The archetype(s) you select to describe how you expect to use Skyspace.
- An optional note if you choose to share one.
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location derived from your IP address, used to suggest your country on the signup form (reverse geocoding).
- Standard log data such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages viewed, used for security, abuse prevention, and basic analytics.
- Cookies and similar technologies strictly necessary to render the site and remember UI state (see Section 9).
We do not knowingly collect payment information, government IDs, or precise location data at this stage.
3. How we use your information
- To reserve and hold your Skyspace handle and waitlist spot.
- To send you essential updates about your reservation and the launch of the Service.
- To understand who is interested in Skyspace so we can build the right product and prioritize features.
- To secure the Service, detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
We will not send you marketing unrelated to Skyspace without your consent, and we do not sell your personal information.
4. Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR and UK GDPR:
- Performance of a contract / pre-contractual steps — to reserve your handle and administer the waitlist you requested.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the site secure, understand demand, and communicate about the upcoming Service, balanced against your rights.
- Consent — where required, for example for non-essential analytics or marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — when we must retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.
5. How we share your information
We share personal information only with parties that help us operate Skyspace, and only to the extent necessary:
- Infrastructure and database providers (e.g. Supabase, Vercel) that host the Service and store waitlist entries under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
- Email and communication providers used to send you confirmations and launch updates.
- Analytics and security providers that help us understand aggregate usage and protect the site.
- Legal and safety — if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Openmatter, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to equivalent privacy protections.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. International data transfers
Openmatteroperates from the United States and our service providers may process your information in the United States or other countries. Where required, we rely on recognized transfer mechanisms such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your information when it moves across borders.
7. Data retention
We keep your waitlist information for as long as your handle reservation is active and Skyspace has not yet launched, plus a limited period after launch to help migrate you to an account. We will delete or anonymize your information sooner if you ask us to (see Section 8), and we may retain limited records as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your information and release your reserved handle.
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
- Receive a portable copy of the information you provided us.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using Section 13. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request. You will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and similar storage keys that are strictly necessary to render the site, remember UI preferences, and keep the site secure. We may also use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the site.
10. Children's privacy
Skyspace is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and vendor review. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice (for example, by email or through the site).
